A Queensland Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy has announced it will rebrand after allegations emerged that the co-founder of Atos Jiu-Jitsu is involved in alleged misconduct.
A former student has accused André Galvao, a former MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, of inappropriate conduct.
Rumours had been circulating on Reddit about something happening at ATOS, involving high-profile students such as Rose Miller and Bruno Frazatto leaving the gym. As the rumours grew, Atos student Alexa Herse posted a statement on Instagram, accusing Galvao of inappropriate conduct.
Galvao has since denied the allegations, saying he is taking the proper legal steps to protect ATOS’s integrity.
ATOS Jiu-Jitsu in Townsville, North Queensland, also took to Instagram to announce that the gym will be moving forward independently and will no longer operate under the ATOS name. They have already changed their profile picture on both their Facebook and Instagram pages.
