Terance ‘Bud Crawford has defeated Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez via unanimous decision to become the undisputed Super Middleweight Champion.
In the main event of Zuffa Boxing’s first event, Crawford got the nod from all three judges 115- 113, 115-113, 116-112. Moving up two weight classes, Crawford worked his plan to perfection, taking the early rounds. Canelo had his moments, landing some big punches, but wasn’t able to land a knockout blow.
Crawford is now 42-0, and is unsure what will happen next.
“Like I said before, I don’t. I’ve got to sit down with my team, and we’re going to talk about it,” Crawford said to Max Kellerman in the post-fight interview.
Despite the loss, Canelo was gracious in defeat.
“First and foremost, I want to thank everyone that came to support me, that’s always been behind me,” Canelo said.
“I’m a winner for being here; there’s no defeat here, the fact that I’m here makes me already a winner.
“I’ve done everything in my career, I’ve come to life to actually take risks, and that’s what I did.”
Whatever happens next for these two legendary fighters, they can hold their heads up high as two of the best to lace up gloves.
