Welcome to the UFC’s new era!

A phrase that no doubt UFC fans have been sick of hearing since the promotion signed with Paramount. For us Aussies, nothing has really changed; we can only watch the preliminary card on Paramount+, while we have to pay for the main card on pay-per-view.

For the very first card of this era, we get an English fighter who bears an uncanny resemblance to Jay Cartwright from The Inbetweeners, and an American who leaves it all in the cage for the interim Lightweight Championship.

The original co-main event for this card was Kayla Harrison vs former Featherweight and Bantamweight Champion, Amanda Nunes. Sadly, Harrison had to have surgery on her neck. Sean O’Malley vs Song Yadong was named as the new co-main event for the card.

The injury bug also hit former women’s Flyweight Champion, Alexa Grasso, pulling out of her fight with former Strawweight Champion, Rose Namajunas. Natalia Silva has stepped in for Grasso.
